SA shines at the World Championship for Performing Arts July 7, 2017

South Africa boasts 21 finalists in the final of the 2017 World Championship for Performing Arts.The announcement Thursday made at the Long Beach Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles.Team South Africa 69 participants who took part in performing arts categories such as singing, dancing, modeling, acting and instrumental, with over 60 countries participating this year. The championship is open to all ages with the youngest participant was 4 years old.

The competition kicked off on July 1 with emerging artists who had showcase their talents at very high standards. Philippines has the largest group of participants and there was this year more than 2,500 items. Wednesday morning announced the semi-finalists and 41 of the 69 participants from South Africa went through, and everyone had to participate again in specific categories.

Both South Africa’s junior and senior champion of the South African Championship for Performing Arts through to the final round.The 10-year-old Ruan Nel Midrand impressed the judges with his guitar and singing while the scores 18-year-old Braeden Buys from Brackenfell in Cape Town’s singing and acting ability of the high points.

The 14-year-old Johnny Lochner of Menlopartk in Pretoria is the only South African who qualified in two categories for the finals. He must prove his modelpassies and acting why he should walk away with the champion trophy.

There are a total of 72 participants taking part in the gala concert on Friday night at 19:00. During this prestigious event will be announced the junior and senior world champions, each with prize money of $ 7,500 to walk away.

The judges at the World Championship for Performing Arts are all specialists in specific performing arts and includes agents, talent scouts, producers, writers and model base. They also chat participants after the competition invited to the “Go-sees” for private conversations to give advice and possible career opportunities in Hollywood.

The award ceremony takes place on Saturday morning where participants will find out who walked away with the gold, silver and bronze medals and who will be the overall winners of each category. But for now stopped the breath for the final of the championship and keep our fingers crossed for the 21 South Africans during the gala concert.
